Harbin Family Fall Sports Update

We just finished a busy Fall sports season with the Harbin family.  I had the pleasure to coach Charles' flag football team again and was also the coach for Max's flag football team and his school basketball team.  Here are some of the updates:

Charles (8) played flag football and after starting off with a 1-3 record, they ended up winning 3 straight games to get to 4-3 and make the playoffs.  They made it to the championship game against the undefeated team in the league.  After a nail-biter game back and forth, his team converted a two-point extra point to win the game 29-28 with an incredible one-handed catch (image below) to win the Flag Football championship!

Charles' soccer team had a great regular season and played in a 4 game tournament at the end of the season.  His team won all 4 games in the tournament and got the championship trophy!

Max (12) played flag football and had an incredible season.  The were 7-0 during the regular season and ended up winning the championship game.

Max also played in the 5th-6th grade league for his school with about 12 other teams from across the city.  We had a number of players that were out over the course of the season but went into the tournament with a #2 seed.  We advanced to the championship game and had to go head to head against another team from his school.  In a back and forth game, Max's team ended up winning the championship and Max persevered through the game by playing with a cracked elbow.  To make the season sweeter, I had a chance to coach alongside my fraternity brother and neighbor, Matt Jackson.

Lastly, Stone (17) ran cross country for his school this season.  With a season that starts with summer training and daily 6 am workouts almost every day during the school year, his team qualified for the State Championship race in Tallahassee.  They posted a 7th place team finish with the fastest team and best State finish in school history for Men's Cross Country.  Stone ran a 17:45 in the state race to place 84th.  He followed it up the following weekend at Nike race in North Carolina and posted his fastest time ever with 17:29 and passed 28 people in his final mile!  He is looking forward to building on his progress by running Track this Spring.

It was a busy but incredibly exciting Fall season for the boys and Jen does an amazing job of capturing the highlights of the season.  I've included some highlights of 3 of those seasons here, and stay tuned for a video recap we are shooting for Stone's cross country team.

Have a great week!
